Our family's holy week story has been the same one for twenty years, but I still look forward to this holiday every year. I like revisiting old favorites, and seeing the new establishments that pop up as well. Over the years, I've brought friends along, and I'm glad all have appreciated how chill and relaxing a weekend can get. I think what I am looking forward to the most is leaving my computer and work at home (although I've got posts scheduled til the end of the week to keep company those who will be spending the holidays in the city).
There is something about going to an old destination, yet being able to discover something new about yourself. I am all for adventure, but when there is a new place to be discovered, it's hard to find time to relax and reflect. Going back to a familiar place, there is no need to rush for a tour; I can take my time, bring out my brushes, paint all day, or do nothing at all.
The waves crashing may already be enough music for one's ears, but when we're 'doing nothing' on the beach, I like the moment to be completely mine. So, I plug in my earphones and cross my fingers that the shuffle will be good. This time, though, I am making sure I have a playlist that will help me drown myself into a wonderful afternoon nap on the sand.
